Kali Gendong Reservoir Retaining Wall Repairs Reach 40 Percent

Kelapa Gading District's Water Resources Unit, North Jakarta is improving the retaining wall of Kali Gendong channel on Jalan Yos Sudarso, Kelapa Gading Barat Urban Village.

To be completed by mid-October

Acting Head of the Unit, Supiyan said the repair of the retaining wall next to the Yos Sudarso 1 Pump House was a follow-up to direct reports from the public. Previously, part of the retaining wall had been damaged and collapsed.

"We will immediately carry out repairs because if left untreated it could potentially disrupt the smooth flow of water and trigger more serious structural damage," he said, Tuesday (9/15).

Supiyan explained that the sheet pile repairs are carried out along 22 meters with a height of 1.7 meters and a sheet pile head width of 30 centimeters.

The work stages include dismantling the damaged sheet pile section and reinstalling the sheet pile wall to make it stronger and able to function optimally.

"The work involves five personnel," he explained.

Supiyan added that the work, which began on September 2, 2026, has now reached approximately 40 percent progress.

"Repairs are targeted to be completed by mid-October," he added.

Meanwhile, Head of Kelapa Gading Barat Urban Village, Ahmad Surya Kusuma appreciated the quick response of the Kelapa Gading District Water Resources Implementation Unit in following up on residents' reports.

According to him, repairing the retaining wall is necessary to ensure the channel continues to function properly while also anticipating the impact of wider damage.

"Hopefully, after being repaired, the channel will function optimally again and the environmental conditions around the location will remain safe," he hoped.
